I have had this twice so far in China, the second time with the fever chills described above, coupled with a terrible back ache. I really don't think there is a good method to avoiding this, other then not eating stuff off the ground. The cleanest looking restaurant can sometimes make your bowels explode.

That being said, I have this irrational dislike for dark colored toilets, like the maroon one you have pictured. But also black, forest green, dark blue. I find them unsettling.

"Drink some hot water." - classic.

I've had food poisoning twice in China, both rather horrible experiences. The ass on fire thing is nothing compared to 3-4 days of fever sweats and cold chills while you roll around on your bed praying the sick feeling might someday go away.

Sadly, despite all my hopes to do otherwise, I've no one but myself to blame for both bouts - don't eat the oysters raw at hotpot (despite how good they are) and if you "think" the chicken on the BBQ might not be done... it probably isn't.

I don't have a name for the place.

It's just off Zhongshan Square. The address is Youhao Lu 125. Phone number is 8281 5680.

I was going to add it to the listings, but I don't think so now.
